Welcome to the Brentwood and District Metal Detecting Club: FOR SITE MAPS LOOK IN THE ALBUM SECTION OF MEDIA. The BDMDC is for those with an interest in uncovering, recording, restoring and displaying the past. The BDMDC Club was founded back in the 1970’s, in the early days of the hobby. The hobby of metal detecting has gone from strength to strength with hundreds of clubs having been formed over the country. The Brentwood Club comprises Men and Woman of all ages and from all walks of life but having the same aim which is to recover, research, preserve, record and display coins and artifacts from Pre-Roman times to the present day. Each member has a professional approach to their hobby, always seeking permission from the landowner before metal detecting takes place on the land and making sure that the land is left as found with unwanted junk items removed from the site. The Club has permission to search private farmland in the area, and at all times each member must carry club membership card and Identification card and Parking permit for display must be on show in your vehicle windscreen before going on the fields and third party insurance cover arranged via The National Council for Metal Detecting or The Federation of Independent Detectorists membership is a must. A free recovery service is offered to the public who have lost keys, jewellery etc and the club has been successful on several occasions in reuniting lost items with their rightful owners. The Brentwood and District Metal Detecting Club is regarded by many to be as friendly as you can get and prides itself in encouraging and supporting newcomers to the hobby. We also pride ourselves in helping farmers to raise money for charities of their choice by holding Club Charity Digs and have raised thousands of pounds this year for good causes. We meet every third Monday of the month at a lovely venue just outside Brentwood for a friendly social evening. We have occasional guest speakers and a Find of the Month competition and at present number approximately 110 members. See less
