Metal detectorists’ third record-breaking year for treasure finds

The Portable Antiquities Scheme recorded 79,616 historical objects in 2024 including more than 1,500 treasure cases. Around 94 percent of the items were discovered and reported by members of the public, mainly hobbyist metal detectorists.
